The Lake Street Council is a nonprofit whose mission is to foster economic vitality and amplify Lake Street's vibrancy to create a thriving and livable commercial corridor. Our staff of twelve promotes the area through marketing initiatives, supporting small businesses, and promoting economic development in our community.

The Content Coordinator is a part-time temporary position that provides communications and marketing support to ensure the effective operation of the organization and promote a vibrant Lake Street corridor. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to help execute our vast communication and marketing needs. Under the supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for bringing visibility to the Lake Street corridor and its businesses through our social media platforms, e-newsletter, and website.  This individual may also support communication and marketing for the Lake Street Council's business outreach programs. This individual should possess exceptional attention to detail, creative thinking, and marketing experience.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Develop creative marketing content about Lake Street businesses and disseminate it through targeted communications that reach 35K+ followers. 

  • Manage @VisitLakeStreet social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, and YouTube)

  • Track and analyze marketing and communications performance and effectiveness.

  • Create content for e-newsletters to customers and donors.

  • Assist with developing content for our website which may include posts to our Not Just a Business Blog.

  • Managing relationships with influencers 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in communications/marketing is preferred

  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills – including writing for a variety of audiences and formats.

  • Possess strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • Cultural competency and ability to interact successfully with a variety of racially, ethnically, and economically diverse constituents.

  • Experience with small businesses and/or nonprofits.

  • Knowledge of Lake Street and its many businesses.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to receive and understand direction, ask questions when appropriate, and manage time to work effectively and independently.

  • Proficiency in Google Drive. 

  • Experience with photography, videography, and/or video editing. 

  • Ability to receive feedback and change focus to meet deadlines.

  • Tourism marketing experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Asana and Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus. 

  • Proficiency in Spanish or Somali is a plus.

Hours:  Maximum 18 hours/week. This part-time temporary position will have flexible working hours to be determined upon hire. Lake Street Council’s main working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Weekend and event work is required. The individual in this position must be able to work remotely and meet within the organization’s office or at events and on location as needed.

Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour DOE.

Term: Beginning immediately upon selection through September 30, 2025, with the possibility of an extension. 

The position reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager
