As our community enters a period of new challenges and uncertainty in 2025, we want to assure you that the Lake Street Council will continue to serve ALL the businesses, diverse communities, and people who call Lake Street home. Our mission, vision, and values remain unchanged.
We envision Lake Street as a vibrant, inclusive corridor with a mosaic of flourishing businesses and nonprofits, a diversity of cultures, and a spirit of innovation – a place where businesses, visitors, and residents feel a deep sense of belonging, ownership, and pride.
The Lake Street Council is a 501(c)3.
We know that Lake Street’s future is bright, and we are excited to continue supporting and advocating for this valuable community. That’s why we developed our new, four-year strategic vision.

CELEBRATE
As the narrative champions of Lake Street, we elevate and honor the rich diversity and cultures that make this area unique. Through marketing, placemaking, events, and beautification, we shape the feel and image of Lake Street, by infusing it with joy and advancing a sense of pride among its businesses, residents, and visitors.
ADVOCATE
We convene stakeholders and ensure that our community’s voices are amplified to drive change around systemic inequalities, attract investment along Lake Street, and help impact resource allocation and policy decisions. By building influential connections with decision-makers across government at all levels, we steward Lake Street toward equitable and sustainable growth and redevelopment.

NAVIGATE
We connect business owners and entrepreneurs from communities of color and historically disinvested communities to vital resources, training, and opportunities. As advisors, troubleshooters, and bridge builders, we support entrepreneurs to increase their economic potential while making meaningful contributions to Lake Street.
