The Lake Street Council, in partnership with other Twin Cities organizations, is currently applying for a grant through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (MN DEED) to support our day-to-day business support work. This includes the free business technical support and advising services we provide to all businesses on Lake Street, as well as more specialized support such as predevelopment and acquisition for those looking to rebuild or purchase a property.

Elevate Hennepin aims to reshape the business support ecosystem in Hennepin County. Through Elevate, businesses are connecting with advisors and each other to share tools and knowledge that empower growth.

Payroll and Bookkeeping Pilot Project for Small Businesses
The City of Minneapolis and partners have launched a Payroll and Bookkeeping Pilot Project to provide free services for one year. Applications are due by January 20, 2023.
Rotary Community Core at Lake Street
The Rotary Community Core at Lake Street (RCCatLS) partnership was started shortly after the murder of George Floyd to support and help grow businesses that were damaged during the civil unrest. Rotary Community Core is looking to support local small businesses.

Comcast RISE Grants
Comcast RISE will award another $1 million in grants - $10,000 each – to 100 Twin Cities small businesses owned by people of color or all women to help grow their businesses, create jobs, and play a vital role in supporting our communities.
Black Prosperity on Corridors (BPOC)
Lake Street Council is pleased to partner with The Black Women’s Wealth Alliance on the Black Prosperity on Corridors (BPOC) initiative. The BPOC is sponsored by Sunrise Banks and additional partners include the MN Better Business Bureau and Baker Tilly. Other partner organizations in this initiative are Neighborhood Development Center, and West Broadway Business & Area Coalition.
