Keep Lake Street accessible by fully clearing sidewalks of snow and ice

Every winter, sidewalks on Lake Street become much more difficult to navigate because of snow and ice build-up. Residents, customers, employees, and everyone else relies on clear sidewalks to get to their destinations. Even the short walk from a parked car to a business entrance can be treacherous if a sidewalk isn't properly cleared!

Please fully clear your sidewalk of snow and ice all winter, including at at corners and curb entrances. If you hire a service to clear the snow from your parking lot, please make sure to ask them to also clear the sidewalk.

Commercial properties are required to clear sidewalks within four hours of a snow event. If you don’t clear your sidewalk, you could get a warning letter and bill from the City to remove snow from your sidewalk. A typical bill is $229. Additional information about snow clearance rules can be found on the City's website

One uncleared or poorly-cleared property can make an entire block impossible to navigate for someone using a mobility device. Please talk to your neighbors if a property hasn't cleared their sidewalk recently. It takes everyone doing their part to keep Lake Street easy to navigate!
