Southside Summit 2024

The 5th Annual Southside Summit will bring together 100 community leaders for an evening of networking, a moderated and unfiltered panel discussion on ways to deepen nonprofit impact, and introduce the One South initiative that seeks to illuminate a new era of collaboration in South Minneapolis.

Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) presents the 2024 Southside Summit taking place at the Historic Coliseum Building on Friday, November 8th, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM. The summit is specifically designed for community champions and has historically been held to highlight the changemakers, organizations, and initiatives working to strengthen community well-being across South Minneapolis.

This year, PPNA is dedicating the summit to uplift an emerging initiative called One South – A Project of Southside United Neighborhoods. Alongside seven other neighborhood organizations, this initiative seeks to unlock a new era of collaboration that furthers efficacy, efficiency, and sustainability in how community-centered civic engagement helps enliven South Minneapolis over the next few decades.

The summit will start with a networking opportunity for attendees with small bites provided by Baba’s House of Hummus, and the program will kick off with lauded local poet, Joe Davis, who will set the stage with reflections on the power of collaboration and partnership.

Neighborhood organizations within the Minneapolis network have fostered thousands of partnerships for over four decades, propelling community-centered programs, events, and advocacy that have served millions. These contributions have been driven through their small-nonprofit structures that now present a range of challenges and opportunities.

This will be richly discussed by a panel of community leaders who have previously or currently serve as Executive Directors for one of the seventy neighborhood organizations in Minneapolis.

The panel discussion will lead into a celebration of the past, present, and future of how neighborhood organizations support civic engagement. This will include details surrounding the One South initiative, and how community leaders at the event, and beyond, can support the initiative’s success in the weeks and months ahead.

The 5th Annual Southside Summit will use several hours to celebrate community-centered collaboration in action.
