NDC Fresh Fronts on Lake Street Facade Improvement Initiative

The purpose of this initiative is assisting businesses along Lake Street corridor to improve, repair or change their business facades, such as painting, signage, lighting, etc. To qualify to receive assistance, businesses must meet these qualifications:

  • Be locally owned

  • Own or lease their space

  • Have 1-15 employees

  • Demonstrate the need for desired improvements

  • Have physical space presence (store front) on Lake Street OR within one block North or South of Lake Street, between 36th Ave and Lyndale Ave in Minneapolis

Total value of work completed is expected to be between $7,500-$15,000 depending on the scope of work. NDC will work together with contractors and business owners to ensure the work is completed and according to the scope of work agreed at the starting of the project.

Contractors will be paid for their work by NDC directly. Projects will be completed as weather conditions and contractor availability allows. For example, painting projects and the installation of windows is likely not possible in the winter months, but can be completed in spring when the weather warms.

Business owners from under-resourced communities, including those who are Black, Latinx, Indigenous, immigrants, or people of color, and women will be prioritized in selection.
