To make the campaign feel even more special, consider offering a discount or promotion to complement the Lake Street Art Drop (ex: Come in any time between 6:00 -8:00 pm on the night of an Art Drop and you get a BOGO 50%, HH deal, etc.). These art drop specials will help promote your business and entice visitors to visit after they’re done art hunting.

About the Lake Street Art Drop
Visit Lake Street (an initiative of the Lake Street Council) first launched the Lake Street Art Drop series in 2023 to encourage people to explore, discover local artists, and support small businesses along Lake Street!
The Lake Street Art Drop is a monthly scavenger hunt featuring photo clues on social media and local artwork prizes.
An art drop is when an artist leaves artwork in a public place, like a treasure hunt for art pieces for the community.
Each Lake Street Art Drop is held in partnership with a local artist
These art drops will be hosted on the first Thursday of every month, beginning April through October. The first one will be on Thursday, April 4th.
The Lake Street Art Drop is a fun way for people to visit the Lake Street corridor and support local artists!
Participants are encouraged to stay for dinner, drinks, or shopping at Lake Street’s local businesses!
Each piece of artwork is free to whoever finds it first, and makes local art accessible to anyone willing to go exploring!
How to participate in the Lake Street Art Drop
To participate in the Lake Street Art Drop, follow the Visit Lake Street on Facebook or Instagram at @VisitLakeStreet
On the first Thursday of each month, before 6:00 pm, look for an in-feed post with emoji hints of the Art Drop boundaries.
For example, in July 2023 the hints were 🌎 - 🍦 which referred to the boundaries as Midtown Global Market to La Michoacana Purepecha!
On the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm, watch our stories on @VisitLakeStreet for photo clues of the hidden art pieces.
Use each photo as a clue to locate the hidden art pieces, which will be somewhere along the Lake Street corridor in a public space. Hints will be staggered every 5-10 minutes.
The first person to find each art piece gets to keep it! One per household, please!
Message us @VisitLakeStreet to let us know which piece you found so we can post that it’s been claimed.
Post your discovery to social media! Don’t forget to tag us @VisitLakeStreet and the artist.
