Welcome to Lake Street
Moving Forward
Watch this video for a small glimpse of the journey.
The videos and images you've seen over the last two years of Lake Street are all a part of Lake Street's history:
We will not sweep our history under the rug. We will not forget the tragic murder of George Floyd. We will not forget the pain our community and surrounding communities have endured as a result.
This is Lake Street. This is Lake Street
Moving Forward.
But we will move forward. Together.
The time we have now is also a part of Lake Street's history. We have a chance to rebuild with equity, and celebrate new beginnings.

"612" LYRICS BY BLOOD $MOKE BODY
"612" LYRICS BY BLOOD $MOKE BODY
Chorus
It’s all about the 6-1-2!
Hailing from the Southside
Do it for the Northside, too!
What you know about Lake Street? Midtown zoo?
Freedom Boulevard. Revolution Ave.
We from the the 6-1-2!
Uncle playing ball with the kids on they day off from school.
Better open up the curtains, let the sun shine through.
Blessings to the elders, giving wisdom to the youth.
Verse 1 (Nazeem)
I was on the 21 wasn’t even 21.
Nothing in my pocket, but some quarters and a honeybun.
Kickstart the single speed, me soaking in the sun.
Too much fun is never enough. Lake Street.
I ain’t making no plans ill see where the night takes me
Serenity be my tour guide, embrace me
May we get bank and then make it a lot
Staged to the block we been way way out the box
Two times if you riding down Lake St.
One time if you rolling through the 6-1-2
Been in the crib all week, got me angsty.
Friday night only one question, what we gone do?
Verse 2 (Eslicky)
I was on the 18, face resembled a baby’s.
On the way to get some Los Ocampo, hoping off on Lake St.
13 years later and bet I’m doing the same thing.
Same neighborhood, same dream, with the same team.
The posse from the barrio,
Pasta from Somalia.
The whip it came from Cottage Grove
Flexing in my Adidas.
Music, you know how it goes, we make you move ya body up.
The culture’s influence, take a look around its obvious.
My faith is in the people, never in those in power.
Changes from the streets, we can make those in an hour.
Living color, beauty on the blocks gonna show it.
The smiles on everybody’s face cause they know it.
Outro Bridge
Even when the sun goes down,
The light inside my soul, it’ll never go out.
Flying through the summer, gonna brush those clouds.
The birds by my window, yeah I love those sounds.
