Discover Art and Local Businesses

About the Lake Street Art Drop

Visit Lake Street first launched the Lake Street Art Drop series in 2023 to encourage people to explore, discover local artists, and support small businesses along Lake Street!

The Lake Street Art Drop is a monthly scavenger hunt featuring photo clues on social media and local artwork prizes.

These art drops will be hosted on the first Thursday of every month, beginning April through October. The first one will be on Thursday, April 4th.

The Lake Street Art Drop is a fun way for people to visit the Lake Street corridor and support local artists!

Participants are encouraged to stay for dinner, drinks, or shopping at Lake Street’s local businesses!

How to Participate

  1. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @VisitLakeStreet

  2. On the first Thursday of each month, before 6:00 pm, look for an in-feed post with emoji hints of the Art Drop boundaries. For example, in July 2023 the hints were 🌎 - 🍦 which referred to the boundaries as Midtown Global Market to La Michoacana Purepecha!

  3. On the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm, watch our stories on @VisitLakeStreet for photo clues of the hidden art pieces.

  4. Use each photo as a clue to locate the hidden art pieces, which will be somewhere along the Lake Street corridor in a public space. Hints will be staggered every 5-10 minutes.

  5. The first person to find each art piece gets to keep it! One per household, please!

  6. Message us @VisitLakeStreet to let us know which piece you found so we can post that it’s been claimed.

  7. Post your discovery to social media! Don’t forget to tag us @VisitLakeStreet and the artist.

  8. Invite your friends, family, and all to the next Lake Street Art Drop!

Hidden art pieces could include anything from jewelry to toys, paintings, or drawings! Local artists make all the art! Each artist and piece will be different every month. The number of art pieces available to find will vary each month.

This activity is made possible by Graves Foundation and the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
