University of Minnesota Law School IP Clinic - Spring 2025
The Intellectual Property (IP) Clinic at the University of Minnesota Law School will take place during the University’s Spring 2025 Semester, which runs from roughly mid-January through April. Certain limited opportunities may also be available during the Fall 2024 Semester.
The IP Clinic provides members of the local community an opportunity to obtain legal assistance in matters involving intellectual property, such as copyrightable works, trademarks, patents, and confidentiality obligations. Legal assistance is provided by second- and third-year law school students under the supervision of a licensed attorney. There is no charge for participating in the IP Clinic, though clients are responsible for out-of-pocket costs (such as copyright registration and trademark application fees).
The IP Clinic:
Prioritizes opportunities that offer positive learning experiences for students.
• Will not handle litigation, arbitration, or any other type of dispute.
• Cannot guarantee that it will provide representation to an applicant.
If you’re interested in obtaining legal assistance regarding your Intellectual Property, please complete the application on the Clinic’s website and then email it to lawclinic@umn.edu. Any inquiries can be directed to the same email.
