Lake Street is in the heart of South Minneapolis. It is a major for dining, entertainment, and nightlife in the city. The street just finished a major reconstruction overhaul. A new roadway, sidewalks and streetscape make it a more attractive place to visit than ever.
In the summer, the street is kept clean with the efforts of a young work team called the Lake Street Ambassadors. These high school students are hired by the business community to make Lake Street a nicer, cleaner area. Lake Street is home to many great performing arts theaters, including award-winning productions!
Some of Minneapolis’s largest and most cherished annual events happen right on Lake Street. The annual May Day Parade, Mexican Independence Day Celebration, Uptown Art Fair and more always draw huge crowds and are a big treat!
